West Austin Aquatics
WAAC Swim
Teams are for swimmers aged 4 through high school. These include West
Austin Aquatics, a USA Swim team, which practices at WAAC and Lakeway,
and a Rec Swim Team divided into shorter seasons. The swim team program
is designed for a range of abilities and we welcome children new to
competitive swimming, as well as help state ranked swimmers achieve
qualifying times. Practices are divided by age and ability where
emphasis is on stroke development and personal improvement. The team
attends a variety of meets including Best Times, C, BB & Up, A, and
state/national level meets. |

Bronze
|
Bronze swimmers are age 8
through 12 who know the basics of the four competitive strokes and
want to improve their technique and speed. The Bronze swimmers are
striving towards specific competitive goals. Swimmers chart
improved times and practice to be faster through stroke work,
strengthening, and endurance training. The group continually
works to have better stroke technique, better starts and finishes, and
better turns. Bronze swimmers should be committed to attend
practice at least 3 times and week and attend at least 4 meets plus
the championship meets. Bronze swimmers have an opportunity to
compete about once a month.
The Bronze group is broken into two groups.
Bronze 1 is for swimmers new to USA swimming and less experienced
swimmers. Bronze 2 is
for experienced swimmers most of whom have swam at least once long
course season.Note: Elementary Age
Swimmers not able to make the practice or competition commitment are

The Silver swimmers are
middle school swimmers
and high school swimmers new to USA swimming. These swimmers are working on improved swim strokes, race times, and strength in
the water. This group trains under the USA Swimming short
and long course schedules to meet qualifying times for championship
meets. The group works on stroke mechanics and building strength
to become faster swimmers. Dry-Land Conditioning is a part of
this group's training. This group of swimmers set season and
long term swimming goals. To be part of the Silver training
group a swimmer must commit to 3-4 practices a week and go to meets
designated for this group. The skill level in this group is
varied from those new to USA Swimming to others who are working on
state qualifying times. Within this group, swimmers are divided
for training. Note: Middle School Age Swimmers not able to make

| National |
WFLY's National
Group is the most elite training group of the team. This
dedicated group of high school swimmers are reaching for senior
circuit, sectional, junior national, and national qualifying times.
This group is committed to competition and improvement. The
group works to perfect strokes, starts, turns, and finishes.
Workout length and intensity follow the USA Swimming short course and
long course schedule. To be part of this group swimmers must
commit to 5-6 swimming practices per week. Supervised dry land and weight training
is part of this group's workouts. High school swimmers must
coordinate their high school workouts with club workouts to remain in
this group. Typically members of this group have 15-16 A times
or faster or have been part of WFLY's long course teams for more than
four seasons. All swimmers in the group must have permission from
Coach Janet to be in this group. Swimmers in the
group set competitive goals with their coach and are expected to do
the required training and competitions outlined to meet those goals.
Regular training, impeccable behavior, and USA Swimming
competition, including team championship meets, are required for
swimmers to continue training with the National group. Note:
High School Age Swimmers not able to make
the practice or competition commitment are directed to WFLY's
companion program the Senior Swim Group Group which provides
swim team at a lower commitment level. |
