Guppy Program![]() Register Online (preferred) or Fall Guppy Registration WAAC's Guppy Program is a specialized curriculum developed at WAAC for young swimmers, age 4-8, who are comfortable in the water and ready to learn how to move efficiently with proper freestyle breathing. To be a Guppy, a swimmer must love being in the water, have NO fear of the water, willingly put their head under the water, and be able to swim with their face in the water, 5-8 feet without stopping. Children who cry around water or when leaving parents are too young for this program. More beginner swimmers are directed to WAAC’s swim lesson program. WAAC's Guppy Program includes Fall and Spring Classes which meet Monday-Thursday, and Summer Camps which are one-week three hour long camps.
West Austin Athletic Club’s Guppy Program is designed for young swimmers aged 4-9 who are no longer beginners, but are not yet ready to join WAAC's REC Swim Team or stroke clinic classes. This program is an excellent way for young swimmer's to improve their ability to move in the water. Guppies work on learning proper freestyle and backstroke. They also learn how to motor longer distances with the goal of the Guppy program being that swimmers learn to swim a 25-yard length unassisted.
Fall Guppy Classes Cost: $250 WAAC member, $300 non-member
