WAAC's Water
Safety Camp is similar to the former Junior Lifesaving Classes Red Cros s
used to offer. The camp provides information on how to be safe around
and in the water and how to handle emergencies. CPR, First Aid, and basic
water rescue are taught and practiced. The camp helps promote many
water skills such as proper entry into water, moving in the water, how to
recognize, prevent, and react to water and land emergencies.
Participants who successfully complete the camp will receive Red Cross
certifications. As young teenagers are more on their own, these skills
will help them make good decisions around water and help their friends do so
as well.

General Information
about Water Safety Camp
Campers will be dropped off at the gray house. It is the
second drive past WAAC's parking lot. It is gravel so if you don't
want to drive down it, park in the spaces to the left of WAAC's driveway and take the foot path to the gray house. Campers should come dressed in bathing suit with T-shirt,
and easy to kick off shoes.
They will need a towel and goggles. They should come with
sun screen applied and bring sunscreen which we reapply at snack time. Please
choose sunscreens made to wear in and out of water. Campers may wear UV
protective swim shirts. We
have a water fountain, but campers may wish to bring a water bottle. Other
things they may wish to bring are caps, sun glasses, and money to buy a
snack card. We serve a snack every day, for example oranges and
graham crackers. Campers are welcome to bring a snack from home.
Snack cards are sold for $5 and campers may purchase snacks at the Camp
Snack Bar such as mini sno cones. WAAC Camps meet
regardless of weather. During thunder when the pools are closed, the campers will move under tents
for rainy day activities.
