Swim Camp offers a fun week in the water,
improving strokes, playing games, and learning about the sport of swimming!
Campers work on the four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breast
stroke, and butterfly. They improve races by practicing starts and finishes. Because this is camp many stroke drills are taught with games and with a
huge emphasis on FUN! This camp is designed for elementary and middle
school swimmers. To participate in this camp, campers must be at least
9 years old and be able to swim across the pool unassisted in any manner
without stopping. Swimmers not yet ready for this should check out WAAC's Guppy Camps or Swim Lessons.
Campers will have two
instructional periods during camp lasting about 40 minutes each, a provided
snack each day with a short break, and free swim time in WAAC's pools. The week ends
with a mini swim meet where campers can show off their improved swimming.

General Information
about Swim Camp
This year campers will be dropped off at the gray house. It is the
second drive past WAAC's parking lot. It is gravel so if you don't
want to drive down it, park in the spaces closest to Barton Creek Elementary
School and take the foot path to the gray house.
Campers should come dressed in bathing suit with T-shirt, athletic shoes and
socks, t-shirt and shorts for girls over their swim suit. They will need a
towel and goggles, if they wear them. They should come with sun screen
applied and bring sunscreen which we reapply at snack. We have a water
fountain but they may wish to bring a water bottle. Other things they
may wish to bring are caps, sun glasses, flip flops, and $5 to purchase a
snack bar card. We serve a snack every day for example oranges and
graham crackers but they are welcome to bring a snack from home. On
Fridays towards the end of camp parents are invited to watch a mini swim
meet and often campers like their parents to watch them jump off the diving
boards or rope swing one last time. WAAC camps meet regardless of
weather. If it is rainy campers will be under tents doing rainy day
activities.
