West Austin Athletic Club Swim Programs
At West Austin Athletic Club, we value the swimmer in everyone. We
believe that swimming provides a great sport which can benefit athletes
of all ages. Swimming provides an aerobic workout which builds upper
and lower body strength without putting a lot of stress on joints.
Swimming helps build lung capacity and get the brain focused. The sport
provides tranquility unknown in some court sports. Swimmers at WAAC vary
from those just learning their strokes to those who have been swimming
for decades. WAAC swimmers include those who swim purely for fitness to
those with competitive aspirations. All swimmers are welcome at WAAC,
and we have developed different classes and teams to meet the various
needs of our swimmers. All programs at WAAC have several goals in
common: 1) to provide a positive environment for the sport, 2) to
emphasize individual improvement through better technique, and 3) to
provide the coaching and facilities to achieve fitness and competitive
goals of our swimmers. Please do not hesitate to contact us with
questions about our programs or to arrange a try-out with a coach who
can help you determine the right program for you or your child. At WAAC
pools you will find a young swimmer learning to enjoy putting their face
in the water for the first time, another young swimmer finishing their
first 25-yard length of a completely legal breaststroke, one of our high
school swimmers headed to a NCAA team next year, and a USMS adult
swimmer training for Masters Nationals next to another adult entering
their first triathlon. Swimming is also available to member families.
Adult lap lanes are available with set times where a coach is on-deck.
Family play swim is available year-round! We hope you’ll join!
