WAAC Programs at Lakeway Pool
Looking for Fall Programs: Lakeway Goldfish
Lakeway Swim Team
Through a cooperative agreement with the City of Lakeway, WAAC runs
several programs at the City of Lakeway Pool. These youth programs
offer swimmers in the Lakeway area with positive swim instruction which
emphasizes technique.
During the summer, the Lakers Swim Team competes as part of the
Lake Travis Swim League. With a series of dual meets, swimmers have
opportunities to see their improvement through better race times. The
emphasis of the league is to help young swimmers learn about the sport
of swimming, and the league emphasizes personal improvement. The team
will also have social activities and many fun activities in practice.
This team is an excellent way for young swimmers to learn and improve
the four competitive strokes, and become stronger and more confident
swimmers. Late Summer Lakers
is a team from mid July to mid August for those swimmers who want to
continue the fun, swimmers who missed being part of the Lakers, and
swimmers who want to work towards joining the USA Swim Team in the fall.
Spring and summer Group,
Semi-Private, and Private Swim
Lessons will be offered. Lessons range from pre-school
beginner classes to advanced lessons to help older swimmers and adults
improve their strokes.
Spring and Fall seasons include Goldfish Classes and
Stroke
Clinics. These classes help young swimmers get ready for summer
swim team and all those other summer activities where kids are around
water like vacations, camps, and visiting friends with pools or near the
lake. Goldfish Classes are for swimmers age 4-8, who can independently
swim about 8-10 feet with their face in the water. The class works on
proper freestyle breathing, arms, and kick, moving on back, and learning
to confidently swim across a 25 yard pool. Stroke Clinics are designed
for swimmers, age 5-18, comfortable swimming across a 25-yard pool, who
want to learn or improve their four competitive swim strokes.
During the school year, WFLY at Lakeway trains swimmers age
5-18. This team is part of WFLY, a USA Swim Team which also trains at
WAAC. Swimmers work on stroke technique, strength training, sprinting,
starts, turns, and interval training. Swimmers set competitive goals
and attend a variety of USA Swim meets. Swimmers in this group include
those training for competitive goals, those who swim primarily for
fitness, and those using swimming for school PE credit.
The
Lakeway program is a great neighborhood program which allows swimmers to
practice and improve their swimming close to home and school. We hope
you will join us at Lakeway.
